The Automatic Recirculation Valve is a safety device. It automatically protects centrifugal pumps from damage that may occur due to partial evaporation of the fluid inside the pump during low-load operating conditions.
As soon as the main flow drops below a predetermined value, the valve opens the bypass path sufficiently to maintain the minimum flow rate required by the pump, even if the main flow is zero.
